Dogs of Fforest Fields
For a dog, a holiday here must be a rather wonderful thing. New smells in every direction, miles of tracks to explore, woodland full of interesting possibilities, a lake to splash about in and, at the end of it all, a warm place to curl up beside the people they love.
Four legs, muddy paws and a great deal of happiness.
We have long suspected that the dogs enjoy Fforest Fields even more than their owners do. Some arrive with the boundless enthusiasm of a creature who has never had a disappointing day in its life. Others are old hands, quite content to find a patch of sunshine outside the caravan and watch the world go by.
There are swimmers, sniffers, enthusiastic walkers and dogs who regard the whole business of camping as an excellent opportunity to spend more time asleep.
And we love them all.

A place for dogs, too
Dogs have always been part of life at Fforest Fields. We're a working farm, and animals are very much part of the landscape, from the sheep on the hills to the wildlife in the woods.
We ask dogs to stay on leads around the camping fields, where everyone needs their own bit of space. Out on the farm tracks and woodland walks, there's room for a good run and an adventurous nose, provided it's safe to do so and livestock and wildlife are given their space.
It's a simple arrangement, really. A little consideration for everyone, and a great deal of freedom to enjoy the countryside together.

The dogs we've known
Over the years, we've met an extraordinary collection of four-legged visitors.
Big dogs, little dogs, beautifully behaved dogs, dogs with questionable listening skills. Dogs who adore water, dogs who wouldn't dream of getting their feet wet, and dogs whose owners have long since given up any hope of keeping the car clean.

Some return year after year, growing a little greyer around the muzzle. It's lovely to see them again.
And so we thought they deserved a little place of their own in our Fforest Fields journal.
This is the Dogs of Fforest Fields. A growing collection of photographs and stories celebrating the wonderful dogs who come camping with us.
If you've brought your dog to stay, we'd love to meet them. Send us a photograph, tell us their name and perhaps a little about their particular character. Are they a champion swimmer? An expert sausage thief? The sort who can walk ten miles and still expect you to throw a stick?
Every dog has a story, and we'd love to collect a few of them here.
Here's to muddy paws, happy wanderings and sleeping soundly after a really good day outside.
