Fforest Fields is a working rural landscape. By visiting, booking or entering the site, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are visiting at your own risk and understand that outdoor and farm environments contain natural hazards
  • You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of anyone in your care
  • Children must be supervised at all times
  • Animals, water, uneven ground and farm activity are part of the site and require care, attention and common sense
  • Swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking or entering water is entirely at your own risk
  • All guests using paddleboards, kayaks or similar craft must wear an appropriate buoyancy aid
  • No lone swimming or lone paddleboarding/kayaking is permitted
  • No swimming or lake use is permitted after dark
  • Guests must follow all site rules, signage and staff guidance at all times

This waiver does not remove our responsibility to act reasonably or safely. It recognises the realities of being outdoors in a real, working landscape.

1. Nature of the Site

Fforest Fields is a working farm, landscape and visitor site in rural Powys.

The land includes natural and working features such as:

  • uneven ground, slopes, tracks and footpaths
  • livestock, wildlife and insects
  • streams, ponds, wetlands and natural watercourses
  • farm vehicles, machinery and equipment
  • changing weather and seasonal conditions

These are inherent features of the site and may not always be fenced, surfaced or signposted.

2. Assumption of Risk

By entering Fforest Fields, you acknowledge and accept that:

  • outdoor and rural environments involve unavoidable risks
  • you enter and use the site at your own risk
  • you are responsible for taking reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others in your group

This includes appropriate clothing, footwear, supervision and behaviour.

Guests are responsible for making sensible decisions about their own ability, confidence and suitability for activities undertaken on site.

3. Children & Supervision

Children under the age of 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Parents and guardians remain fully responsible for the safety, behaviour and whereabouts of children in their care.

Extra care is required near animals, water, slopes and natural play areas.

Children under the age of 14 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times when near or in the lake area.

Guests aged 14 to 17 must have a responsible adult present on site during lake use.

4. Animals & Wildlife

Livestock and wildlife are part of the working landscape and must not be approached, fed or disturbed.

Animals may behave unpredictably.

Dogs must be kept under close control at all times and on leads where requested or required.

You accept the risk of injury from animals behaving naturally in a farm environment.

5. Water, Swimming & Natural Features

Streams, ponds, wetlands, lakes and watercourses are natural features of Fforest Fields.

Important: Swimming & Water Entry

Swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking or entering water is entirely at your own risk.

Natural water carries risks including:

  • cold water shock
  • uneven or slippery surfaces
  • variable depth
  • submerged obstacles
  • changing weather conditions
  • hidden hazards
  • soft ground and slippery lake edges

There are no lifeguards and no active supervision of the lake by Fforest Fields staff.

Visitors are responsible for assessing their own ability and conditions before entering the water.

Please do not enter the water if:

  • you are unwell, tired or physically below par
  • you have consumed alcohol or are otherwise impaired
  • weather conditions are poor or changing rapidly
  • you are not confident in open water
  • you would be swimming or paddling alone
  • it is dusk, dark or visibility is poor

Children must be closely supervised near water at all times.

Guests must only enter the lake from designated access points.

Diving, jumping from structures and reckless behaviour are not permitted.

All guests using paddleboards, kayaks or similar craft must wear a suitable buoyancy aid at all times.

Water quality is monitored throughout the bathing season and lake use may be restricted or suspended if water quality is considered unsafe.

We strongly advise caution and conservative judgement around all water features.

6. Behaviour & Site Rules

You agree to:

  • follow all site signage, notices and instructions from staff
  • stay out of restricted, working or clearly marked areas
  • not climb gates, fences, trees or structures

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Fforest Fields, its owners and operators do not accept liability for injury, loss or damage resulting from the ordinary and inherent risks of visiting a rural, outdoor and working farm environment.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence
  • any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law

8. Medical Responsibility & Emergencies

You are responsible for your own medical needs and for carrying any necessary medication.

10. Fires, BBQs & Cooking

We do permit BBQs, fire pits and small contained campfires at Fforest Fields, but only where they are used safely, sensibly and with proper care for the land around you.

All fires and BBQs must be raised off the ground and must not scorch, burn or damage the grass. Please use a suitable stand, fire bowl, bricks, heatproof mat or other safe protection underneath. Disposable BBQs must never be placed directly on the grass, picnic benches or any wooden surface.

Fires must be kept small, controlled and attended at all times. Please do not leave a fire, BBQ or hot embers unattended, even briefly. Children and dogs should be kept safely away from flames, smoke, hot metal and cooking equipment.

Please do not light fires in high winds, very dry weather, or in any area where there is a risk of sparks spreading to grass, hedges, trees, tents, vehicles or other pitches. We may ask guests not to light fires or BBQs during periods of particular fire risk.

Only use suitable firewood or charcoal. Please do not burn rubbish, plastics, treated wood, pallets, painted timber, or anything that gives off toxic smoke or leaves dangerous debris.

Before going to bed, leaving your pitch, or leaving the site, all fires and BBQs must be fully extinguished. Please douse them properly with water until there is no heat, smoke or glowing embers left. Ashes and disposable BBQs must be completely cold before being disposed of in the correct place.

11. Alcohol & Substances

Alcohol may be consumed responsibly where permitted.

Intoxicated or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.

Guests must not enter the lake while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Illegal substances are not permitted on site.

Vehicles must only be parked in designated areas.

Visitors must not drive or park on fields, tracks or access routes unless authorised.

Farm vehicles and working access routes must be kept clear at all times.

Fforest Fields accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to vehicles parked on site.

Any biosecurity measures, cleaning stations or guidance provided on site must be followed.

Visitors using lakes, rivers or other waterbodies elsewhere are encouraged to follow “Check, Clean, Dry” guidance for equipment, footwear and water gear.

Damage caused deliberately or through negligence may be charged to the responsible visitor.

14. Weather, Site Conditions & Closures

As an outdoor rural site, conditions may change rapidly due to weather or land management needs.

Fforest Fields reserves the right to restrict access to areas, modify activities or close the site temporarily where necessary for safety.

No liability is accepted for disruption caused by weather, environmental conditions or events beyond reasonable control.

15. Accessibility & Personal Capability

The site includes uneven ground, slopes and natural surfaces which may not be suitable for all visitors.

Visitors are responsible for assessing whether the site and activities are appropriate for their own abilities and needs.

Please speak to staff in advance if you have questions about access or terrain.
