A group of ambitious folk in local town Llanwrtyd Wells came up the idea of The World Alternative Games, basing it on the Olympics, the group threw out the traditional events and in their place put and assortment of eye catching disciplines. This includes – bog snorkelling (what it is most famous for) Man vs. Horse (a race between humans and horses) and Worm Charming to name a few.
The first Games held in 2012 proved a great success with over 2000 competitors taking part in 35 events, from Worm Charming to Chariot Racing, from the Bathtubbing Championship to the Wife Carrying Championships.
Fforest Fields is about half an hour from Llanwrtyd Wells and we often have competitors staying with us while enjoying the festivities of the World Alternative Games. In some cases we can accommodate horses for Man Vs. Horse, but please do give the office a call to discuss this. The event is brilliant for spectators too, so if you are planning a trip to Fforest Fields in August, don’t forget to check it out!
