The Hay Festival of Literature & Arts is fantastic event held in late May early June every year in the small town of Hay-on-Wye. Hay-on-Wye was already well known as a haven for book lovers before the festival, with a range of second hand book shops stocked to the ceilings.
The festival is a celebration of arts and literature, the programme has expanded in the past decade to include music from top artists, including many of the world’s greatest musicans. There are now also a number of fantastic fringe events, as well as a new festival called When the Light Gets in, which is focused on philosophy and has a programme of fascinating talks
Fforest Fields is situated about 40 minutes from the main festival site. You can access it over a beautiful mountain road which offers far reaching views across the area. While we aren’t the closest campsite to the festival (and wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to be right next door!) Fforest Fields is a favourite for those looking to blend the fun of the event with a getaway in the hills during one of the most beautiful months.
