Escape to Fforest Fields
Fforest Fields touring caravan and camping park is four miles from the historic market town of Builth Wells and the Royal Welsh Showground. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Heart of Wales provides some of the most peaceful and unspoilt countryside in Britain yet it is easy to get to.
The campsite is situated in the middle of our family's hill farm and visitors are welcome to explore our lakes, woodland and moorland walks. There are thousands of acres of adjacent moorland rich in wildlife. Take a look at our photo gallery or have a read of our blog to get a feel for the site and the area.
In 2017 we have introduced four beautiful yurts (hyperlink to glamping page) They come fully equipped with beautiful little wooden, hand made, kitchens in a very special area of the site next to the fishing lake. There are wonderful and far reaching views and peace and quiet but with all the facilities of our award winning site close at hand. We also have two beautiful holiday cottages, Ffynonnau a 17th century stone cottage and Y Ffos a charming easy-access holiday cottage. Both of which command breathtaking views across the valley.
The campsite is ten acres and almost flat. The very large pitches are well spaced and cleverly set out within the landscaping so as to be screened from one another by trees and shrubs. There is a large overflow field, the Sports Field (called that because the local show is held on it on the first Saturday in September) It is less formal and has the most wonderful, wide ranging views. There are grass, all weather and hard standing pitches. Take a look at our layout map to get an idea of the pitches we have on offer.
There are no static caravans, no swimming pool nor a clubhouse so the campsite remains nice and peaceful through the day and night! There is a fantastic community spirit though and plenty of opportunities to meet fellow outdoors lovers in the reception area or out and about on the campsite. Children love to cycle round the site and often lasting friendships are made.
A mountain stream gurgles its way through the site leading to shallow ponds and children love to play in the ponds, watch tadpoles or hunt for newts to peer at.
There are lots of electric hook-up points and an award winning toilet block where the hot water and showers are free, there are two family rooms and a disabled wet room. There is a drying room, laundry and washing-up room with deep sinks, washing machines, spin dryer and tumble dryers. There are both organic and chemical toilet disposal points.
You are welcome to have barbeques and camp fires, we do ask that you keep them off the ground, in a suitable container. We have blocks to protect the grass if you need. We also sell locally produced charcoal and kiln dried wood.
There is a small shop selling simple essentials like milk and bread, fresh orange, yogurts, eggs and the famous Bujok Bacon! We also have home grown sausages and now home grown pork burgers.
Dogs (and other pets) are welcome, they love it here. There are lots of walks they can be taken directly from the campsite. We ask that all dogs are kept on leads while on the campsite for the consideration of other visitors. There are masses of areas off the site where dogs can be let off leads and they are welcome to swim in the lakes too! We permit a maximum of two dogs per pitch unless expressly asked.
The grass pitches are kept closely mown and the many banks and wildlife areas left completely natural. There are masses of birds and small mammals that live in the havens of the hedgerows, wild banks and stream verges. Up in the woods overlooking the site there is even more to discover. Over the last fifteen years we have been awarded a prestigious Bellamy Award for conservation and our connection and dedication to preserving the best natural environment is absolutely key to what we do here, come and enjoy it with us!
We take pleasure in keeping the site a beautiful, tranquil but a well equipped place to take your camping or caravan holiday. We look forward to welcoming you to Fforest Fields for a great escape in 2015.
