May & Bank Holidays

Spring at Fforest Fields

Has it really been that long?! Time flies doesn’t it? It seems incredible that we are nearly at the end of May already, heading into the last bank holiday weekend before half term and then the long summer holidays, gallop, gallop!  We’ve had a wonderful start to the year, although numbers were a bit down for the 1st of May bank holiday it’s hardly surprising as Easter was only a couple of weeks before and half term follows hot on it’s heels.  Since then we have seen a steady increase in the number of retirees in caravans venturing to Mid Wales, encouraged by descriptions of our wonderful facilities, we find that more and more senior caravanners are moving from the comfort of CC sites to explore the independent sites.  Our disabled facilities are also attracting a new caravanner and camper, less able but still wanting to get out and about. We plan to put a proper path round the Long Lake so they may enjoy the walk as much as we do.

I’m sorry if you have been disappointed and are unable to visit this weekend.  We have a slightly different approach to being ‘full’ to most campsites, we are full when we feel that the campsite has enough people on it.  This means that when you visit on a busy weekend you might find empty pitches and wonder why your friends who wanted to join at the last moment couldn’t.  We don’t like to overcrowd you, we don’t want you to go home vowing never to come again because ‘our guy ropes crossed’, which you hear too often on popular caravan forums.  It still makes saying  ‘I’m sorry but we are up to our numbers’ incredibly difficult, believe me!

At Fforest Fields we are lucky enough to have and be able to enjoy a very special part of the world, we love it when we can share it with you, moreover make it available to others too.  From time to time we have mountain bike events, paragliding festivals and rallies, these are part of our fabric and important to us and other local groups who are able to take advantage of our ground.  With the exception of rallies any other event is well advertised on our various sites, Facebook and Twitter and the Events page on the website. Please always check and if you have any doubts call me and talk about it. Very rarely we make the site available for exclusive use, I think the last time was Will and Natalie’s wedding and even then we had visitors who wanted to stay!
