We’ve recently received feedback from the David Bellamy Conservation Awards and we thought we would share it with you.
“Dear Katherine, (! only my mother used to call me that – ed.) I am delighted to let you know that your park is the well-deserved recipient of a Special Distinction Award in the 2012/13 David Bellamy Award Scheme.
2012 is the fifth time that we have made these Special awards. They are being given to a small number of parks to highlight specific examples of ‘best practice’ from with other participants in the scheme can learn from.
These special awards are made after careful deliberations with the assessors. So please let me congratulate you and your team for all the hard work and innovative thinking that has been put in on behalf of the environment.
You have been nominated for your new toilet and shower block which epitomises many of the David Bellamy Award Scheme aspirations for sustainable living. I was particularly impressed by the fact that the new building is made from locally sourced materials and that it is heated by a system that uses a sustainable source of locally produced fuel. Your assessor says that “at Fforest Fields the owners have very sensibly looked at their key natural assets and decided on the most efficient source of energy to use” Well done!
Let me close by saying ‘congratulations’ again and many thanks for your dedication to the environmental cause.
I have just heard that we are only the 7th site to win it twice in the five years since The Special Distinction Award started. There are over 600 sites in the scheme. We are thrilled.
