2017, The Year Fforest Fields Legends are made!
We’ve come a very long way since we started the campsite to supplement our farming income. We little thought when we opened our gates that first year that we would reach such heady heights as we have done in the last 18 months. Throughout all these changes we have kept the ethos that says ‘Fforest Fields’ to you. We have only ever grown organically, through necessity or demand and that applies to our latest venture into ‘Glamping”.
When we were awarded the AA Campsite of the Year for Wales we heard several cries of ‘well, that’s it then, it’ll change’ ‘I can’t go there again, it’s changed so much’. Neither of which are true I am glad to say. Yes, we have better facilities, yes, we have more people staying and yes, we have other attractions but at heart, in our hearts, we are the same old, same old. Our policy of trust and be trusted still encapsulates what we are about.
This year we are introducing to you Fforest Lakeside Glamping. After two successful years with Betty and Harry Bell Tents and a growing demand for ready-erected tents we thought that it is something that we could add. We felt that the campsite was not the right place for them and the obvious place, that we all thought of immediately, was by the fishing lake. The most peaceful and beautiful area with far reaching views down the valley, yet only a step away from the modern amenities of Fforest Fields. The yurts and canvas safari tents will be ‘off grid’ and as simple but scrumptious as we can make them. Please visit the page on our website to learn more about them https://fforestfields.co.uk/mid-wales-glamping

Still visiting after all these years!
It’s a special year for us because we welcome our daughter, Jessie and her boyfriend Ian (and Buddy!) who are moving from Newport to Fforest Farm to work along side us. They are super-excited too to be starting a new phase and life in beautiful mid Wales. Does this mean that George and I will be retiring? Not a chance!!
Ian, Jessie and Buddy with his ffavourite ball!
So I hear you asking what has the title to do with the rest of the blog? This year Visit Wales has designated a Year Of Legends, we want you to make your visit to Fforest Fields the start of your own camping legends. We’d love to have some stories, from children or adults about your time here, why camping is legendary in your family, the funny side, the dad cooking breakfast side, the wonderful side, the adventure side, the mum jumping in the lake side, the hedgehog in the tent side, or just what it is that makes staying at Fforest Fields the stuff of your personal legend!
A million miles from anywhere.
